Egyptian blogger faces military court

Asmaa Mahfouz, a leading Egyptian blogger is being questioned for allegedly defaming the military on Facebook. The charges being brought against her relat to suspicions of her calling for assassination attacks against the military and judicial bodies.

Military prosecutors set her bail at £2,062 and argued that she had is abusing the right of free speech by insulting the military.

Allegedly she wrote on her facebook page the following: "If justice is not achieved and the justice system fails us, no-one should feel upset or surprised if armed gangs emerge to carry out assassinations.
