The BBC producer of the hugely successful show, Top Gear has come under attack over the aired episode on Sunday 31 July 2011. The producer is accused of running down the battery of an electric car, so that the car would run out of battery during the show. Sure enough, the car did run out of battery because it was not fully charged. This led to presenters concluding that electric cars are not the future.
The allegations that the car battery was deliberately flattened by the presenters have been backed up by the constant updates that a fitted device in the car transmitted during the show. Jeremy Clarkson had to complete a 60 mile journey, with the car battery only 40% charged.
